Hotel wi-fi, airport lounges and charging points are where travel data leaks.
The scam
Rogue hotspots named after the hotel, captive portals that ask for more than they need, and compromised USB charging ports can all intercept traffic or plant malware. A busy lounge is also the easiest place in the world to shoulder-surf a passcode.
How to stay safe
Carry your own connection
Use your phone's hotspot or a travel router, and a VPN when you must use public wi-fi.
Charge from the wall
Use your own plug and cable, or a data-blocking adapter, never a public USB port.
