How to secure your cell phone

Your phone holds your accounts, messages, location, and payment details in one place. Securing it protects everything it can reach.

Why this matters

A lost, stolen or compromised phone can expose your entire digital identity. Strong device security keeps that information out of the wrong hands.

Step by step

  1. Set a strong passcode and enable biometric unlock.
  2. Keep the operating system and all apps fully updated.
  3. Review and restrict app permissions, especially location and microphone.
  4. Enable find-my-device and remote wipe.
  5. Set up a SIM PIN and ask your carrier for port-out protection against SIM swaps.

BlackCloak tips

Only install apps from official stores and remove ones you no longer use. Add a carrier-level lock or PIN to defend against SIM-swap account takeovers.
