Two Attacks You’d Never See Coming

The call that sounded exactly like her daughter

In California, a mother answered her phone to a man who said he’d kidnapped her daughter and wanted $20,000. Then she heard her daughter’s voice, crying and apologizing. In a panic, she wired about $5,000 in immediate response. Her daughter was safe the whole time, the voice she heard was an AI clone.

Scammers need only a few seconds of audio from a social media post or voicemail to copy someone’s voice, and personal details from data broker sites make the story believable. The FBI says Americans lost more than $893 million to AI-related scams last year.

BlackCloak removes the personal details scammers rely on and defends you and your family from AI impersonation with a simple way to know a communication is real.

When a company you’ve never heard of loses your data

Most people have never heard of Conduent. It quietly handles mail, billing, and paperwork for major health insurers and government agencies. Hackers sat inside its systems for almost three months, from October 2024 to January 2025. The company has since reported that more than 62 million people were affected, with names, addresses, Social Security numbers, and medical information exposed.

Your most sensitive details sit with companies you never chose and will never control. BlackCloak constantly monitors and detects personal information that has been exposed across the open, deep, and dark web. We then suppress and remove it from data broker sites, stepping in fast if someone tries to use it.

Where You’re Most Exposed

  • Identity theft and financial fraud

Credit cards, loans, and even unemployment claims can be opened in your name, costing you money and time you’ll never get back.

  • Children and young adults

Gaming, social media, and college life expose younger family members to scams, oversharing, and account takeovers.

  • Deepfakes and impersonation

Interviews, speeches, and social media give criminals everything they need to clone your voice or face and fool the people who trust you.

  • Email and account takeover

One reused password can hand your inbox to a criminal, and your inbox is the key to your bank, your investments, and your reputation.

  • Your home address and physical safety

Online data marketplaces sell your address, phone number, and family details to anyone who asks. That information can put you and your family at risk offline, too.

  • Cameras, routers, and smart homes

Outdated routers and unprotected cameras can let strangers watch your home and move across every device on your network, including your work laptop.

  • International and domestic travel

Hotel Wi-Fi, vacation homes, and international trips put your devices on networks you know nothing about.

Four Clients, Four Cyberattacks, Four Outcomes

Case 1

Case 1

A philanthropist stops identity theft and wire fraud

A retired CEO became a public figure through humanitarian activity. Cybercriminals used information about her to lift her credit freeze, commit credit card fraud, and file unemployment claims in her name. When emails from her wealth manager stopped arriving, she realized criminals were intercepting them and requesting wire transfers.

BlackCloak identified a business email compromise and launched a forensic investigation. We moved her to a new email provider, removed the fake email accounts the criminals had created, and moved her passwords into a secure password manager. Credit monitoring, identity theft insurance, data broker removal, and around-the-clock device protection now keep her and her husband secure.

Case 2

Case 2

One pop-up puts an executive’s home and company at risk

An executive’s wife was browsing online when an alert claimed her computer had been hacked and listed a support number. She called it and unknowingly handed remote control of her computer to criminals. Over several hours, they moved across the home network and reached his company’s network.

The executive knew BlackCloak from a previous company and called us. Our team found and removed three malicious browser extensions that could track browsing, redirect users to dangerous websites, and collect personal information. We secured the router and every home device. Ongoing network scans now keep the family protected.

Case 3

Case 3

Wealth management executive closes the door on exposed cameras

A wealth management executive joined BlackCloak to get ahead of risk for himself and his spouse. During onboarding, we tested his home network and found 12 security cameras open to the public internet with no password protection. Anyone could watch the feeds, and an older, compromised router put every device in the home at risk, including his work devices.

BlackCloak replaced the router, secured the cameras, and retested the network. Weekly scans now keep his home secure, and deception technology on his personal devices adds another layer of protection.

Case 4

Case 4

A son protects his mother after a $500,000 romance scam

An 81-year-old widow met a cybercriminal masking as a businessman on a dating app. After weeks of daily conversations and virtual meetings, he convinced her to send $205,000, then accessed her home equity line of credit. Her losses reached nearly $500,000 before her son uncovered the scam and brought in BlackCloak.

A reverse image search of the scammer’s passport photo found him listed on a romance scammer alert website. We worked with compassion, securing the Client’s home network and devices, added two-factor authentication, credit monitoring, fraud alerts, and credit freezes, and restricted home equity borrowing.
