The Problem
Compromised surveillance cameras
An initial test on the Client’s home network found 12 security cameras exposed to the public internet due to missing authentication — anyone could view the feeds and configuration files. If a cybercriminal reached the home automation system, every device on the network was viewable, including corporate devices. Given his profile with a financial firm, he needed frictionless personal privacy protection that secured both the cameras and the home.
BlackCloak steps in
Working alongside the firm’s corporate IT team, BlackCloak ran a full network penetration test, found and immediately replaced a compromised old router that was exposing multiple vulnerabilities, and remediated all other identified personal cybersecurity risks. A re-test of the network confirmed the wealth manager and his family’s personal digital footprint was now secure.
The Result
Secured cameras, router, and networks
The home network, router, and camera system were secured, preventing future data or privacy leaks for the firm, executive team, and their families. Weekly scans keep camera and home-automation systems secure, privacy hardening protects both senior leaders and the firm, and deception technology on personal devices adds a further layer — keeping the client one step ahead of identity theft, malware, and other threats.
