How to protect your privacy

Shrink what the internet knows about you and your family.

Why this matters

Data brokers assemble your address, family members, and daily patterns into profiles anyone can buy. Shrinking that footprint makes attacks such as phishing, impersonation, doorstep risk harder to execute.

Step by step

  1. Search your name and address to see what brokers and old profiles expose.
  2. Submit removal requests to the major data-broker sites, and repeat quarterly.
  3. Tighten social profiles: private where possible, and strip locations from posts.
  4. Use an email alias and a virtual number for sign-ups and deliveries.
  5. Opt out of people-search results with the search engines themselves.

BlackCloak tips

Removals take time and data brokers can re-post your information after it has been removed. Put a quarterly reminder in the calendar, or let a service that continuously monitors and removes it do the hard work for you.
